When Bad Things Happen to GOOD PEOPLE!

Let me preface this with a little introduction.

This is InsyX Piranha.  I have known Insy in SL for longer than I can remember.

InsyX is a DJ, a builder, club owner, mall owner, all around good guy. He is good at what he does and had a really bad thing happen recently.  That is being ignored by the powers that be at LL.

For those of you who don’t know InsyX owns/manages one of the longest running clubs in SL called the AquA Lounge.  The club has a very active mall area associated with it.

So here is what happened.  On Aug 31, 2012, Insy was contacted by an avatar called lili155, wanting to rent a store at his place.  Like any good landlord, he perved her profile as the conversation went on.  He sent me a copy profile.  He said that it appeared to be an Alt account.  He didnt’ think anything of it he said cause he has one for business purposes.

So back to the time line here.  He goes over to her cause she said she couldn’t work the rent box. InsyX uses one of the oldest and well known rental box systems in SL.  Instead of checking the existing box he rezzed a new one and started over.

This is where the story goes bad.  When he dropped the new box and started the config everything seemed fine. A drop down menu appeared asking him to link to his account.  But this crafty alt throw away account had rezzed an invisible prim scripted tool that was on top of his club, that somehow piggy backed off the rent box.  It looked exactly like the legit drop downs should look so he didn’t think anything of it. BUT

The rental box turned into her own personal ATM to the Bank of Insyx.

That right boys and girls in a matter of 1 minute she had lifted 40K from InsyX’s account.  As I write this that is approximately $162US.

He was advised to call/contact Linden Labs and report this.  He spoke with Amanda Linden.  Started telling her what had happened and shortly into the conversation after she had brought his account up on the screen, she said she would have to stop helping him cause he is basic account.  He would have to file an Abuse Report.  OK dont’ get me starting to rant on the overall effectiveness of the AR reporting system and the two tier society that the Lab continues to put forth.

InsyX, a SL resident since Oct 26, 2006 almost left that day. To quote InsyX “I felt low that this company had different ways of treating the different levels of users. I was not called a racial slur or someone bumping me on a sim. I was robbed all my lindens. In my thinking abuse reports never get looked at or settled. This was my money that was taken from me.”

He called back to try again – he told them he had the device and all the scripts. They could have any and all information they needed.  They still said he had to file a AR.  Which he reluctantly did.

On Oct 13, 2012 InsyX sent me a notecard in world outlining the events that transpired.  He said he has posted a second AR and nothing has happened yet.  So all the good that process does. He also pasted into the notecard the information from this person’s profile.  Playing it safe here – incase it was just stolen information.  But I searched it and found the exact information and it appears the person with the same information in HIS account sells stuff on marketplace and it doesn’t deliver.

I hope this has upset you all as much as it did me.

DAMMIT LL its time to end the 2 tier service when it comes to monetary issues like this. Personally it appears as you are aiding and abetting petty larceny by not taking action.
